Bronxville Women’s Club Benefit Honoring Marcia Lee Great Success
On Sunday evening, October 17, the Bronxville Women's Club held its fall fundraiser to benefit improvements to its historic clubhouse which was built in the 1920s and is on the Westchester County Inventory of Historic Places and the National List of Historic Sites. The event was a wine reception featuring music by The Westchester Bluegrass Boys along with hors d'oeurves and dessert.
The event honored Marcia Manning Lee, who is described very aptly in the event program as "one of those residents who make Bronxville the community it is today."
Marcia's list of accomplishments is truly amazing. She became one of the first women mayors in Westchester when she was installed as Mayor of Bronxville in 1977. She was judicial Item Chairman of the Bronxville League of Woman Voters, Founding Chairman of the Bronxville School Foundation, producer of "Living History of Bronxville," a cable TV program for over 15 years, Chairman of the Bronxville Republican Party 2001 - 2008, elder and deacon of the Reformed Church and a Board member of numerous organizations including the Bronxville Junior League, Lawrence Home Health Care, Gramatan Village and the American Cancer Society Advisory Council on Concerns for Women. Most recently, Marcia is co-founder and Managing Editor of myhometownBronxville.com.
It is not surprising then that a very distinguished group of speakers honored Marcia including Joyce Balint (Bronxville Women's Club), Amy Paulin (NY State Assemblywoman) Mary Marvin (Bronxville Mayor), Nancy Hand (former Bronxville Mayor). Jeffrey Klein (US Senator) and Diane Lee Hall (Marcia's daughter, who is an on-air TV anchor).
An equally distinguished group of Bronxville residents, leaders and friends attended including Eastchester Town Councilwoman, Vicki Ford, State Assembly Candidate, Rene Atayan, a number of Village Trustees and many others. They all helped make the event a great success! Click here to see pictures!
